What do you want?

.
A recent study was conducted about employee satisfaction, and the results came across my desk. I was shocked to learn just how unhappy people are with their jobs. The study was not unique to the YMCA, but I am sure that the same principles apply no matter where you work. What do you want from your employer? What could he/she do that would increase your satisfaction at work?

I want fairness. I want to be compensated appropriately with benefits that meet my family's needs. I want to be treated equitably and recognized as the professional I am. I want my education, knowledge, and experience to be equally recognized. I want respect from the management and recognition of what "my" role is in this organization.

Now, after saying all I want, I must admit that my employer does a pretty good job of meeting my needs. I do wish I would be compensated a little better. My benefits are good, but my co-pays are higher than with other companies.

I like my co-workers and I like the environment most of the time. I won't be leaving anytime soon. Our employee satisfaction is VERY high compared to most companies, so they are doing something right.

Why does Jason's answer not suprise me. I think he needs a nice MacBook Pro (17" monitor) with wireless access, so he can work remotely from Starbucks, or some place like that.

Since I am my boss, I want patience. Patience that the business will come, and we continually strive to serve our clients better than expected.

All I ask from my employees is for them to think like an owner, and do their best. Hopefully they are satisfied. I think so.

No complaints.

I get everything that I need. . I am exactly where I want to be, doing exactly what I want to do.

well 3Q, I wouldn't think you would have any complaints about your employer, since you don't have one!

I think it is great you are doing what you want to do...

Without an employer and boss it is hard to complain about employee satisfaction.
