Barry Bonds- 715

Okay- so Mr. Bonds broke Babe Ruth's all-time home-run record yesterday.

I have 2 questions for you....

1. Does anyone care?

2. Do you believe Barry Bonds took steroids, and that he knew what he was doing when he was doing it?

A Great Evening With Friends!

.
Tonight we had a great time with friends at Jimmy and Amber's house. They had a great crowd, and the fellowship was great! Here are a few of my favorite moments of the night. There were a lot of great moments, but I couldn't get pictures of them all!

The picture to the right shows Amber doing two of the things that she does the best- serving others and fellowshipping. She was a great hostess this evening! Thanks Amber for all that you offered to your guests tonight! We had a great time!

What kind of party would it be without a bunch of crazy guys running around? This pic shows Jonathan, Tyler, KC, and of course the craziest one of all- JASON!

Okay, there were a lot of cuties at this party, but none cuter than little Meagan! She and I are "best friends" just ask her and she will tell you! She is a sweetie, and can make anyone smile!

Speaking of cuties...get a load of this group! Rachel, Jennifer, Alex and Bekah all had a great time looking at yearbooks, talking about plans for the summer, and of course about a boy or two! It is a wonderful blessing to have such good Christian friends.

Then of course there has to be a bully in the group! Poor Colby was attacked by girls who insisted on putting his hair in little ponytails! He looked a little silly, and Mr. Mike was trying to "gently" tell him that boys don't wear ponytails!
No- just kidding... Mr. Mike wouldn't ever hurt anyone!

Once again, a great time was had by all, and we are looking forward to more summer cookouts with Jimmy and Amber and the rest of the youth group! We love you all!

By the way- Jimmy is a fabulous cook!

Weekend

What a crazy weekend! Last night, Bekah's play opened, this morning we worked a wedding at the church, then cleaned the building to get it ready for worship tomorrow. After that we started the set-up for Dean's funeral services. Then we headed home for lunch, a little R & R, and a few chores. Tonight I am fighting an ear ache, so Jason went to the play alone. Tomorrow it will be another full day with class, worship (Glynn D. is speaking!), 2 sets of dinner plans (not sure how we are gonna work that out yet!), and a few job-related things that we need to take care of. Then it will be Monday already, and we will celebrate Memorial Day by visiting my brother, and grandparents at the cemetary. Then we will head to mom's for lunch, and then to the funeral home to show our love and respect for the Patrick family.

It is a great thing to be busy, and have lots of friends and family to spend time with, but sometimes we forget that we need some time in our lives that isn't scheduled to the minute.

How about you? What are you doing this Memorial Day weekend?

Sunday Send Off

Today was the send off at church for Brian and Heather. It was difficult in many ways, but over all it was a good morning. It is hard to see him go, but I trust that God has worked in ways to make sure that Brian is able to further his work for the Kingdom, and God has moved him to Alabama. I wish them all the best, and pray that they will be richly blessed in their new home.

Here are a few pics from the day.

Thank you for 11 wonderful years! You will be missed!

Partners in Crime- Sue and I had a lot of fun, and worked hard to get this thing planned and pulled together. Thanks to all who were so willing to help- especially Robin, Jason, Larry and the youth group! THANKS!

Peggy and Paula were also a great help- especially with the dessert table!

Here is another great picture of two great friends- Brian and Shawn.

It is my prayer that God will bless the Magnuson's in their new ministry in Alabama. Brian, Heather, Destin and Kade, we are thankful that God allowed our paths to cross and wish you all the best. You will remain in our prayers.

Unbelievable

Okay, get this. I was in my car this morning and I had on a morning radio talk show. They were talking about a recent accident that took place in Colorado. I won’t bore you with all of the details, but here is the long and short of it.

It was prom night.
A group of teen girls rented a HUMMER Limo together.
After the prom they all got into the Limo to head to a party.
Before 17 year old Molly was all the way into the Limo, the driver started to drive away.
Molly was pulled under the vehicle (keep in mind we are talking about a MASSIVE HUMMER LIMO).
In spite of the girl’s screams, the driver drug her for several hundred yards.
Miraculously, the girl survived.
Her injuries were referred to as gruesome.
She had to have a leg amputated.

Okay, so you might be saying, “Accidents happen, no one is to blame…” and in many cases I may agree with you; but not this time. Take a look at a few more facts:

The driver of the limousine is a REGISTERED SEX OFFENDER.
The driver of the limousine has had numerous DUI and DWI convictions.

So, who is to blame? First of all…what in the world is a registered sex offender doing driving around a bunch of teen-age girls? Secondly, how did a man with DUI and DWI convictions get a license to drive a limo? Finally, did the Limo company bother do a background check on this guy?

So, if I were guessing, I would say that someone is getting sued. In addition to a huge law suit, if the driver had in fact been drinking, I hope that he is charged and ends up serving jail time for what he did to this poor girl. I also hope that if it is proven that this man had ill intentions, been drinking, or had been driving recklessly, that the Limo Company is held accountable too, since they obviously didn’t see fit to do a background check.

This is such a sad story.

The Davinci Code

There is a lot of buzz about The Davinci Code, especially among Christians. Do you plan to see it? Why or why not?

More Funny Stuff- Dilbert

American Management Today - Idiots?A magazine ran a "Dilbert Quotes" contest. They were looking for people to submit quotes from their real-life Dilbert-type managers.

These were voted the top ten quotes from the contest:

"As of tomorrow, employees will only be able to access the building using individual security cards. Pictures will be taken next Wednesday, and employees will receive their cards in two weeks." (This was the winning quote from Fred Dales, Microsoft Corp. in Redmond WA)

"What I need is an exact list of specific unknown problems we might encounter." (Lykes Lines Shipping)"

E-mail is not to be used to pass on information or data. It should be used only for company business." (Accounting manager, Electric Boat Company)

"This project is so important we can't let things that are more important interfere with it." (Advertising/Marketing manager, United Parcel Service)

"Doing it right is no excuse for not meeting the schedule." (Plant Manager, Delco Corporation)

"No one will believe you solved this problem in one day! We've been working on it for months. Now go act busy for a few weeks and I'll let you know when it's time to tell them." (R&D supervisor, Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing/3M Corp.)

Quote from the Boss: "Teamwork is a lot of people doing what I say." (Marketing executive, Citrix Corporation)

My sister passed away and her funeral was scheduled for Monday. When I told my Boss, he said she died on purpose so that I would have to miss work on the busiest day of the year. He then asked if we could change her burial to Friday. He said, "That would be better for me." (Shipping executive, FTD Florists)

"We know that communication is a problem, but the company is not going to discuss it with the employees." (Switching supervisor, AT&T Long Lines Division)

Anyone else ever have a boss who says things that just don't quite make sense?

Wedding Shower

Today I was pleased to be one of the hostesses for Jodi McLaughlin's wedding shower at church! We had a lot of fun and Jodi and Paul received a lot of really nice things. I couldn't be happier for them; they are two wonderful people who are great examples of Christian living. I love them both and wish them the best! Here are a few pics from the day...

Hostesses with bride: Sue, Carolyn, Carol, Jodi, Christy, Robin and me!

Jodi and her sister Melissa had a great time at the shower!

The littlest hostess, and cutest in the room... Jillian!

American Idol Shocker!

I know I said that I was going to talk about my favorite Psalm today, but DID YOU SEE WHAT HAPPENED ON AMERICAN IDOL LAST NIGHT? Hello America?! Did you not vote? Well for those of you who don't know, my pick for the next American Idol was Chris Daughtry- and last night he was voted off!

All I know to say is that I am SHOCKED in a HUGE way! Was anyone else blown away that Katherine beat out Chris last night?

Well the way I see it is it's Taylor's game to lose now.... but after last night.... who knows?

By the way- rumor has it that a "very well known rock band" is going to ask Chris to be their front man. The invitation is supposed to happen on EXTRA tonight. We shall see.

Psalms

Today in our staff devotional, Larry used my favorite Psalm as the text. I started thinking about all of the wonderful psalms that we are given in the Bible, and how so many of them make me feel like every trouble or struggle that I have ever had has been faced by someone long before my existence...and in many cases these people cried out to God and God heard and them.

Tomorrow, I am going to share my favorite Psalm with you. But, for today, I want to know from you- WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PSALM, AND WHY?

Have a blessed day.

Home from Miami

There are lots of pictures to share from Miami, but here a few to start with. We had a good time, but I am VERY tired. Miami was beautiful, and I need to go back sometime when I can spend longer than 3 days!

The flights were good, but we did have a little security issue...but that is way too long to discuss here. But we made it home, so I suppose that is all that matters!

I love seeing the world from this view. The clouds and sunset are so beautiful from 30,000 feet!

The weather was perfect and the water was warm. We had a little scare with a 8 foot long "fish" by it was all okay, and no one was hurt! I had forgotten how weird salt water makes my skin feel, but it was worth it!

I have never seen clearer blue water, or cleaner white sand. It was so beautiful!

And, on top of it all, the Cardinals swept the Marlins. There were a lot Cardinals fans to cheer with, and we had a great time! One Cardinal fan kept cheering "Squish the Fish!" It was a lot of fun!

I'd love to write more, but I am SO TIRED- so I think I will just let the pictures above share my Miami story with you for now! I am glad to be home with my hubby and sweet Bekah!

Still Taking over the blog...

Hello, I am still taking over Conni's blog while she is in Miami, soaking up the sun and watching the Cardinals beat the socks off of the Marlins! We missed her at church today and can't wait until she gets back! She will be back late tonight! It will be good to have her home : )

Taken over the blog

ok, while the cat is away the mice will play, as you can see I have taken over Conni's blog! Ha ha ha ha ha ha! Conni called me today and her words were slurred and she was laughing a whole lot, (just kidding...or am I) She spent the first part of the day with her sister and mom on the beach getting some sun. Then it was off to watch the Cardinals win! I know she is having fun and relaxing! Hurry back...Bekah can't have any more pizza for breakfast, lunch and dinner every day :)

How Do You Know?

We all have to make decisions everyday. There is one decision in my life that I have been thinking and praying about a lot lately. Here is my question... When it seems like the answer is becoming more and more clear, how do you know if it is GOD leading you in that direction, or if it is SATAN moving you in a direction that he wants you to go to fulfill his evil plan?

Will someone please provide me with a little insight?

5 Good Reasons

I can’t blog today, and I have 5 good reasons.

1. I want to share some thoughts and feelings, but this is not the right forum.
2. We are under a thunderstorm warning, and I probably should get off of the computer before lightening strikes.
3. The 2nd half of a 2 part episode of HOUSE is on, and the first half was really good, so I may as well watch the second half. (And then American Idol is on.)
4. I don’t want to “stir up” any “uncomfortable” issues for anyone.
5. I need to start thinking about what I need to pack to go to MIAMI in only 36 more hours!

Anyone want to share why they can't post a comment today?

Thought For The Day

Sometimes what a person chooses NOT to say is much more important that what he or she chooses to freely verbalize. It is our responsibility to listen to both the unspoken and the spoken.

Martha or Maxine?

Whose way is better? You choose.... Martha or Maxine?

Martha :Stuff a miniature marshmallow in the bottom of a sugar cone to prevent ice cream drips.
Maxine: Just suck the ice cream out of the bottom of the cone, for Pete's sake! You are probably lying on the couch with your feet up eating it, anyway!

Martha: To keep potatoes from budding, place an apple in the bag with the potatoes.
Maxine: Buy Hungry Jack mashed potato mix, keep it in the pantry for up to a year.

Martha: When a cake recipe calls for flouring the baking pan, use a bit of the dry cake mix instead and there won't be any white mess on the outside of the cake.
Maxine: Go to the bakery! They'll even decorate it for you.

Martha: If you accidentally oversalt a dish while it's still cooking, drop in a peeled potato and it will absorb the excess salt for an instant "fix-me-up."
Maxine: If you oversalt a dish while you are cooking, that's too bad. Please recite with me the real woman's motto: "I made it and you will eat it and I don't care how bad it tastes!"

Martha: Wrap celery in aluminum foil when putting in the refrigerator and it will keep for weeks.
Maxine: Celery? Never heard of it!

Martha: Brush some beaten egg white over pie crust before baking to yield a beautiful glossy finish.
Maxine: The Mrs. Smith frozen pie directions do not include brushing egg whites over the crust so I don't.

Martha: Cure for headaches: take a lime, cut it in half and rub it on your forehead. The throbbing will go away.
Maxine: Take a lime, mix it with tequila, chill and drink!

Martha: If you have a problem opening jars, try using latex dishwashing gloves. They give a non-slip grip that makes opening jars easy.
Maxine: Go ask that very cute neighbor if he can open it for you.

Martha: Don't throw out all that leftover wine. Freeze into ice cubes for future use in casseroles and sauces.
Maxine: Leftover wine??????????? HELLO !!!!!!!
