Opinion Please

What does it mean to you when someone says, "My spirit is broken?"

That they are hurting and stuggling with their faith, life and with people.

I would say, that a Broken spirit could also have the implication that one's independence and initiative has ben taken away. One no longer is able to think, feel, or choose for themselves, but they remain at the whim of others. Like a dog, or a horse whose "spirit has been broken", people like this remain fearful of reprisal, have little initiative to actually ENJOY life, but remain dependent on what OTHER people decide in order to feel that they have worth or value.
