It's Opening Day!

.
We have waiting a long time- but Opening Day at the new Busch Staidum has finally arrived!

Today the new Busch Stadium officially opened. The park is located just south of the old stadium, and sits in what used to be the south parking lot. The new park, which seats 43, 975 was designed by HOK Sport and was constructed by Hunt Construction Group. Construction on the new stadium began on January 17, 2004, and opened its gates to a sold out crowd today as the Cardinals played host to the Milwaukee Brewers. The cost of the new stadium was a solid 365 million dollars, coming in 21 million over the original estimated cost!

Cardinals fans everywhere are anticipating a great season, and many games are sold out already. Fans also hope to witness a lot of long ball this year, with high expectations for Pujols, Edmonds and Rolen. The boys of summer will have to crush a ball 400 feet if they plan to hit a home run over the center field wall in the new stadium. They will only need to hit it 335 feet to the far left or far right to circle the bases.

For those interested, if you want to enjoy a cold beer on hot day, share nachos with your sweetie, or shovel in a couple of hot dogs while you watch the game, you may want to stop by the ATM before heading for your seats. Concession prices are up again!

Well, here is to a great Cardinals season! Bring us a winner!

(I am enjoying the game in the comfort of my living room as I am writing this. Did anyone actually go to the game?)

Now, I am NOT a Cardinals fan, but we did enjoy a few games during the time we lived there and we had a blast. I think I must be the only person who doesn't want to go to a NEW Busch Stadium, it just isn't right. The pictures do look great, but I miss the old stadium.
