Ignorance Angers Me

Well, as we all know, the election is over; there is no hanging chad, and a clear winner has emerged.

I, for one, am glad that it is over. It has been a LONG past few months of too many commercials.

This morning, I am angered by ignorance. Jennifer received a text message last night from someone that she knows that said, “If Obama wins, we have all agreed to wear black tomorrow to mourn the death of our country.”

WHAT???

Regardless of how one chose to vote last night, I think that the text message is quite possibly the most ignorant thing that I have ever heard. Is Obama perfect? Of course not- neither is McCain. But come on people, America has clearly spoken for change, and whether we agree or not, HE IS THE PRESIDENT ELECT OF THE UNITED STATES.

Give the man a chance. He ran on the platform of CHANGE. We all agree that we need it. So give him a chance to lead our country- Give him a chance to help revive the economy, end the wars, and do something about the many problems that we have in the United States. Don’t judge his success before he even takes his oath!

I am no political genius, but here are my 3 suggestions to Americans on the day after the elections:

1. Don’t make assumptions about what MIGHT happen.

2. Stop- PLEASE STOP…making this election and the issues about RACE. He won the popular vote as well as the electoral vote. Clearly, more people voted for him other than African Americans.

3. “Ask not what your country can do for you… ask what you can do for your country.” (hm…. Seems like I’ve heard that somewhere before.)

Titus 3:1-2

" Remind the people to be subject to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready to do whatever is good, to slander no one, to be peaceable and considerate, and to show true humility toward all men. "

“Ask not what your country can do for you… ask what you can do for your country.”

But doesn't spread the wealth contradict this thought. Why should I be taxed more just so the government can do more.

No, it doesn't contradict, at least not to me. For you, asking what you can do for your country, may be giving a little more money that those who have less. The way it stands now, those who make the most pay much less because of "shelters." Maybe if those who made the most actually paid their fair share, there wouldn't be such an issue.

Maybe if Biden and Obama actually donated some to charity (I don't consider $900 when you make over $200xxx to be some).

I donate because Jesus calls me to donate, to take care of the needy and I do it willingly, but to be taxed by people who don't find it in their hearts to give charitable, I find insulting.

How's this great promise of change working out for you now? High unemployment, economy in the ditch, national debt increased by unfathomable amounts, the government owning car companies and making a play to "take care" of the health insurance problem. Seriously?? How can anyone think that they can handle that when social security is broke, medicaid is broke, medicare is broke and now they're going to fix health care???? Are you kidding me??? Pull your head out before it's too late. "A government big enough to give you everything you need is big enough to take everything you have." --Gerald Ford
