Well, she was nominated by her classmates, she didn't put herself on the ballot. Because of that, I don't think I would have anything to say about her. However, I think it would be awkward for the Prom Queen if she were to win. Sounds like the school would have put a boy's name down for Prom Queen had one been nominated.
On the other hand, the Prom Queen and King thing is just a stupid, ridiculous popularity contest that is generally won by the captain of the football team and the captain of the cheerleading squad. Not really something that I respect or would want my children to strive for in any way. But that is just me, substance is more important in my opinion.
On a side note, I think the rest of the country could take some lessons from California on how to respect diversity. We are all different and those differences should be respected, not shunned.
